The more viscous the material, the slower the mixer will need to run to mix it. Since the Max Mixer folds products together using gravity, the product must also flow with gravity in order to mix.
To determine the optimal mixing parameters of a product, you must consider the three controllable parameters of the mixer: Fill volume, RPM and mixing time. Each of these are influenced by the products being mixed.
The following guidelines will get you started close to an acceptable value. If you are mixing the same product repeatedly, it is generally recommended to experiment with the mixer’s three controllable parameters to determine optimal settings. Unless you are an expert in design of experiments, we suggest you modify only one of the three variables at a time to be sure which of the parameters is having the desired effect. Check your results every three minutes for easy flowing materials, every five minutes for medium flowing materials, and every 10 minutes for hard flowing materials.
You need to go both ways on the parameters. Often times, quicker, more complete results can be obtained with a subtle change in a parameter.
FILL
Experiment with more fill and less fill. The easier the products flow, the higher you can fill the container. Liquids can be up to 95% fill, while powders can often be up to 66% fill.
RPM
Play with higher and lower RPM. The easier the products flow, the higher the RPM you can mix them at. Products like water mix well at very fast RPMs, while products like molasses mix better at very slow RPMs.
TIME
Generally, the more time the better the mix. Occasionally, though, a product may mix very well quickly, then unmix (minorly) before cycling back and forth between mixed and slightly unmixed.
Once you have determined your optimal mixing parameters, it should remain repeatable.
